Wyndham Clark sank a birdie putt of about seven metres at the 16th hole that proved decisive in sealing his victory at the US Open at Shinnecock Hills. With that birdie he finally ended the comeback.
He still suffered a bogey at the 17th hole, but he would almost certainly not now have the trophy under his pillow, his second US Open, if it were not for that birdie putt at the 16th hole.
