Very good news for the Challenge Tour. The circuit has now communicated to the players during a meeting in Lumine that there will be a new tournament on the 2014 calendar.
To be held in Azerbaijan, and with €300,000 prize money, the tournament will be the second most important of the year after Kazakhstan. The announcement illustrates the growth and expansion policy of Europe´s second tier, which this year will feature an additional two tournaments and a 17% increase in prize money.
Other news was of a tournament in the Ukraine, scheduled for September (11 to 14). The players want to know if this tournament will go ahead given the current political situation between Russia and the Ukraine. Those responsible for the Challenge Tour will wait until the end of May before deciding if the tournament is to be canceled.
