Calanova wraps up the regular Gecko Tour season

Last tournament before the grand finale next week at Finca Cortesín Calanova Golf, in the heart of Mijas, the last stretch of the Gecko Tour regular season. The tournament will be held this Monday and Tuesday and will bring together some of the most important golfers who have played a big role in the best winter tour in Europe from the start, back in November.

The Gecko has hosted more than twenty tournaments, with multiple winners, and very diverse at that. Wins have been spread across the board ranging from renowned golfers, champions of the tour from before, first-timers, amateurs, women…a wide range of talent. An incredible opportunity accessible to golfers from all backgrounds at a time when it’s not easy to find high-level competitions in Europe.

Calanova will wrap up the regular season before going into the Gecko grand finale, which will be held next Monday and Tuesday on the Finca Cortesín course, home to the European Tour tournaments. It will be the last chance to battle it out to win the sixth edition of the Gecko Tour order of merit. Andreas Andersson, current leader, and Sam Connor are favored for the win.

Some of the past winners of the current season will reunite at Calanova, such as Steven Jones, Leo Lilja, Alex Belt, Marcos Pastor and Jordi García del Moral. Coincidentally, the last two mentioned won the order of merit in 2015 and 2016.

There will also be other interesting opponents present who are hungry for the win as well and who have already shown their potential, such as Mads Vibe-Hastrup, Scott Fernández, Dermot McElroy and Jimmy Mullen. Lots at stake in the second-to-last stop of the Gecko Tour.

The tournament will begin at nine in the morning and the golfers will go out in pairs. The last game will start at 11:40 am. The weather forecast is good. Slightly windy, but nothing too extreme and temperatures will get up to around twenty degrees at midday.
