Dubai resident and European Tour star Adri Arnaus is relishing the opportunity of playing back-to-back events in Dubai as he prepares to take on the challenges of Jumeirah Golf Estates’ Earth and Fire courses during two weeks of world-class golf in the emirate.

Next week’s Golf in Dubai Championship presented by DP World will be held over the Fire course from Wednesday 2 to Saturday 5 December.

The tournament will precede the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai – the final Rolex Series event of the season – on the Earth course and the Spaniard, who has resided in the emirate since the beginning of the year, believes the two-week golfing bonanza will be the perfect showcase for Dubai’s ample golfing assets.

“I think the European Tour have done a very good job in rescheduling the calendar and to add the Golf in Dubai Championship presented by DP World the week before the DP World Tour Championship is exciting,” said Arnaus.

“To have the opportunity to experience another European Tour event in Dubai is going to great not only for the players but also for the city as it will show that the emirate is the number one destination in the world for golf.”

Dubai boasts nine 18-hole golf courses, two 9-hole courses and numerous par three tracks as well as world-class teaching academies where golfers can touch up on their golfing skills. Arnaus is familiar with many of them but Greg Norman’s Fire course design is still something of an unknown quantity to him having only played the course once previously.

“I think I speak on behalf of every player on Tour in saying how pleased and grateful we are of being able to end the season in Dubai with a double-header at Jumeirah Golf Estates,” said Arnaus. “In other parts of the world you probably wouldn’t be able to host these tournaments but Dubai has given us the opportunity to keep on doing what we love and we are very thankful for that.”

Dubai has such a vast range of great courses with impressive layouts so I’m really looking forward to playing on the Fire course for only the second time. It’s going to be a good test with some fun holes that allow you to attack more than the Earth course. It will be new for us so we will have to adapt and enjoy the challenge.”

The 26-year-old is currently teeing it up in Leopard Creek at the Alfred Dunhill Championship before heading back to the emirate for the Golf in Dubai Championship presented by DP World. Arnaus will be hoping to continue his fine form of last month where he finished tied fifth at the Italian Open.

“I feel like my game is trending in the right direction,” he said. “I didn’t play great during the UK Swing but after having some time off I returned with some good showings including a top five at the Italian Open.”

Attendance at both events will be for invited guests only. Golf fans can follow the action on the Dubai Sports channel in the UAE or by tuning into their local network as well as staying up to date with all of the action at www.europeantour.com and on the European Tour’s social media channels.
