Ever dreamt of playing in a pro golf event, teeing it up against some of the biggest names in the sport?
Well, next month’s Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande is offering one amateur golfer based in Europe just that: the chance to play in the Ladies European Tour (LET) event’s $1million team format at Le Reserva alongside the likes of former world #1 Nelly Korda, sister Jessica Korda, Carlota Ciganda, Bronte Law and a who’s-who of other global superstar golfers.
Always looking to do things differently, the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande has partnered with scoring app VPAR to give away one money-can’t-buy playing spot in its unique two-day team format – where three LET pros team-up in a fourball with one amateur golfer, and together look to shoot the tournament’s lowest score over 36 holes.
The lucky winning golfer will take the amateur spot in one of the tournament’s 36 teams, giving them a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in a professional tournament, in front of fans, where their playing partners will be competing for $1million prize money and vital Race to Costa Del Sol points…and where it could land on them to roll in the winning putt, live on TV around the world.
“This really is the stuff of dreams for golf fans,” said Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande tournament director, Tom Hogg.
“I’m sure there’s not an amateur golfer amongst us who hasn’t sat watching golf on TV imagining what it would be like to play alongside the best in the planet, on one of the world’s best courses. Well, here’s the chance to make that dream a reality! Our Team Up competition in partnership with VPAR is here to help make that happen.”
So, how can you put yourself in the running? Good news: play more golf!
From now and up until the week of the tournament – which takes place August 18-20th – VPAR, the world’s #1 golf GPS and scoring app, has added a special “Aramco Team Series Challenge” to its app, which golfers are asked to join.
After joining, each round of golf recorded on VPAR in the weeks leading up to the event will automatically register that golfer one entry into the random draw to win a spot in the three-day tournament, the third of five Aramco Team Series presented by PIF events on the Ladies European Tour in 2022.
The more rounds you play, the more entries submitted, increasing your chances of winning.
Tournament director Tom Hogg continued: “The Aramco Team Series format is like nothing else in world golf. The players love playing the events, the on-course vibe is incredible and the whole set up guarantees three-days of entertainment – on and off the course!
“Each event seeks to elevate women’s golf and the fan experience and we can’t wait to welcome the world’s best golfers back to La Reserva.”
Tickets for the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande are now available from just €5, where players including three-time major-winner Anna Nordqvist, Catriona Matthew and Spanish stars Ana Peláez Triviño, Nuria Iturrioz and Carmen Alonso – amongst many others – will also compete.
This will be the third Aramco Team Series event of the season, following the Series’ Bangkok debut in May and June’s London tournament. Sotogrande will be followed by Aramco Team Series events in New York and Jeddah, all with $1million prize funds, split $500,000 each between their team and individual scoring contests.
