The Gecko Tour will hold its eleventh tournament of the season. Host to the tournament is, once again, Atalaya Golf Country Club, a magnificent course situated right in the heart of the Costa del Sol. Any visit to Atalaya means Mario Galiano will be the grand protagonist. The young Andalusian golfer is the one to beat.

That’s what history says at least. He’s already won twice on this course in the Gecko Tour. On top of that, the last win was just a month and a half ago. He won in the tournament held on December 1st and 2nd of last year, with none other than a five-shot advantage over second place. It was his first win as a professional.

However, it doesn’t end there. Galiano also won at Atalaya, in the Gecko Tour, when he was an amateur. It’s clear that the golfer born and raised in Tesorillo, Spain, has this course down to a tee (no pun intended), although the reality of golf, in the end, is that each week is different from the next. The key to his last win was in the drive. Not only was he not afraid to use it when he needed to, but he also managed to shoot them straight as an arrow.

The reality is that Galiano won’t have it easy to reclaim the throne this week after having won this past December. The Gecko has managed to get an interesting pool of participants together at Atalaya. Danish golfer Mads Vibe-Hastrup will be there, winner in the European Tour. What’s more, the Nordic golfer won in a tournament held in Spain. Specifically, the Madrid Open.

Other names that stand out in the eleventh tournament of the best winter tour in Europe are Carlos del Moral, Noemí Jiménez, Manuel Quirós, Alexander Belt (winner two days ago at Baviera), Marcos Pastor and Manuel Quirós, an all-star lineup.

The first game of the day will  be at 8:45 am, Spanish time, and the last one will make its appearance starting at 10:15.
