The DP World Tour today added two events to its 2022 schedule, with the Mallorca Golf Open (October 20-23) and the Portugal Masters (October 27-30) taking place in back-to-back weeks this autumn.

The Mallorca Golf Open returns for the second consecutive year having debuted in 2021 when Jeff Winther claimed his maiden DP World Tour title courtesy of a one stroke victory at Golf Santa Ponsa.

That was the Tour’s first visit to Mallorca in ten years and the 2022 tournament will move to Son Muntaner Golf Club, near Palma, which is part of the European Tour Destinations network.

A week later, the DP World Tour will then return Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, in Vilamoura, for the 16th consecutive edition of the Portugal Masters.

Last year, Belgium’s Thomas Pieters became the 16th different winner of the Portugal Masters with a two stroke victory.

Both tournaments will have prize funds of €1.75million and extend the DP World Tour’s late season ‘Iberian Swing’ to four events comprising: the acciona Open de Espana presented by Madrid (October 6-9), Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters (October 13-16), Mallorca Golf Open (October 20-23) and Portugal Masters (October 27-30).

Meanwhile, the Cyprus Open, which was due to take place at Aphrodite Hills Resort from November 3-6, has been cancelled.

It means the Iberian Swing will be followed by a rest week, before the DP World Tour’s 2022 season concludes with the 40th anniversary edition of the Nedbank Golf Challenge (November 10-13) and the final Rolex Series event of the year, the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai (November 17-20).
