Martin Kaymer, who scaled the heights by reaching World Number One and capturing The Race to Dubai in 2010, is poised to kick-start his 2012 campaign by accepting an invitation to join a top quality international field for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links next month…

The 27 year old German Ryder Cup player, currently 15th on the Official World Golf Ranking, is seeking his first victory of the season and Kaymer already knows the sense of satisfaction from winning the Scottish Open title, having won at Loch Lomond three years ago.

Now the former US PGA Champion, who shot four rounds in the sixties in 2009 to complete back-to-back victories following his success in the Alstom Open de France the previous week, is relishing the challenge posed by Castle Stuart from July 12-15.

He said: “I’ve heard great reports about the course at Castle Stuart and I am looking forward to playing links golf again. One of the biggest thrills of my career to date was winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship over three of the greatest links courses in the world, so it will be exciting to test myself at Castle Stuart and try to get back to winning ways again.

“Winning in Scotland, the Home of Golf, was a very special feeling and I think the spectators are among the most knowledgeable and respectful in the world. I love Scotland and am looking forward to the chance of winning a second Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open title.”

Kaymer, currently 25th in The 2012 Race to Dubai, is the tenth Major Champion to join an elite field which also includes defending champion and World Number One, Luke Donald of England, three-time Major winners Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington and Scotland’s own Open Champions Paul Lawrie and Sandy Lyle.
