Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño has decided to hire on a new coach. The Spanish golfer is already working in the US under the prestigious Randy Smith’s orders, head coach of the Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas since 1980.

Randy Smith is one of the most renowned gurus at the moment on the other side of the Atlantic, included in the Top 50 Greatest Teachers, according to Golf Digest, and in the top 100 in Golf Magazine.

Smith works with a good amount of PGA Tour players, many of them winners, as is the case with Justin Leonard, who has the British Open under his belt, Ryan Palmer, John Rollins and Harrison Frazar.

Smith is known to be very prestigious among his colleagues. So much so that he has been worthy of numerous acknowledgements in the past thirty years, among which, forming part of the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame since 2005 and was chosen Coach of the Year in the US in 2002.

Smith will be the head supervisor of Férnandez-Castaño’s swing while he’s in the US, while José Carlos Gutiérrez will continue to be in charge when the Madrid native is competing in Europe. Dave Stockton, Martin Sibelist and Marnus Marais are also still on the task force as well.

Randy Smith’s incorporation is just another demonstration of Fernández-Castaño always looking to improve year after year. The madrid native trusts that it will be a successful partnership for both of them.
