Any member or fan who has passed by the Real Club de Golf de Zarauz today would have thought they were in the middle of the 19th century when looking at the participants of the Open de Hickory with vintage clubs and costumes in a curious tournament that has celebrated its second edition on the Guipuzcoan course.

The weather conditions, with a temperature of 20 degrees and a south wind, and the magnificent condition of the course (4,865 meters for gentlemen and 4,000 meters for ladies, playing two old greens, the 11th and the 16th) have allowed the 32 registered to enjoy a great day of golf.

The final winner of the Open de Hickory has been Luis de Miota with a result of +5, followed by Andrés Navarro and Federico Lilly, while in the amateur handicap category the victory went to Íñigo González with -6 and in amateurs scratch it was for Ion Ander Corral with -1, finishing as the best classified in the female category Inés de Miota, also distinguished with the best vintage costume of all participants.

The classic hickory club set is composed of Brassie (Wood), Mid-iron (Iron 4), Mashie (Iron 6), Mashie-Niblick (Iron 8), Niblick (PW) and Putter. The players have had a great time with the experience and Más que Golf, a tournament collaborator, has arranged a radiant 1st tee at the Real Club de Golf de Zarauz with all the sponsors of an event that is in its second year and hopes to continue for much longer.

Once the round was over, the participants took a family photo with the vintage golfer’s attire on the clubhouse terrace before enjoying a delicious lunch.
