Valle Romano will host the seventeenth tournament of the Gecko Tour this Thursday and Friday. The best winter tour in Europe is going on its final stretch with a fantastic tournament, and an all-star lineup of golfers who have played or are playing in both theEuropean Tour and the Challenge.

The Gecko is on a quest for Valle Romano’s blessing. The course in Estepona has only ever hosted one European Tour tournament. It was one of the four stops in the second part of the 2013 School. Andrew Johnston was champion that year, a British golfer, very young, and not very well known, and who was crowned the grand champion of the Open de España at Valderrama just three years later. Now he’s playing in the PGA Tour.

It’s clear that Valle Romano has a certain magic touch to it and that’s what the more than fifty golfers will be in search of, who will fight for the win starting tomorrow. The goal is to come across Valle Romano’s magic wand.

The tournament has an outstanding lineup as we mentioned before. There are big-name golfers such as British golfer Matthew Baldwin, Spanish golfer Carlos del Moral, Scottish golfer Fraser Moore, champion one week ago at La Quinta, Gabriel Cañizares, who was director at Valle Romano two years ago, Andreas Andersson, double winner this year, and Sam Connor, leader in the Order of Merit.

The Estepona course will host a duel between Andersson and Connor. Their fight for first place in the Gecko rankings has been incredible. Now, they’re only 24 points apart, a technical tie.

There will be a very high level in women’s golf present as well. Moroccan golfer Maha Haddioui will be there, professional golfer with the Ladies European Tour card who preferred to stick to the Gecko to prepare for the season which starts this week in Australia.

The golfers won’t have to go up against Valle Romano’s sworn enemy: the wind. The weather forecast says there will be a slight breeze, but not very strong in the next couple days. The round on Thursday will practically be like springtime weather, while Friday is going to be much colder and may even rain a bit.

The first game on Thursday will start at nine in the morning and the last at 10:20 am.
