The Gecko Tour is cooking up the sixth season of the best winter tour in Europe. Full speed ahead, moving forward and full of fresh, new ideas, the Gecko is preparing a propelling new edition. This very week, the calendar for the 2016/2017 was announced. There will be 25 tournaments from November to March with an important update: there will be two tournaments per week.

The directors of the Gecko have thought up a creative formula which allows for the players to organize their schedules in the most comfortable, effective way. In other words, in just one month in the Costa del Sol, golfers will be able to play in up to eight tournaments. The new Gecko allows the players to have mini intensive preseasons in the Costa del Sol, with excellent courses, competing among top golfers and to prepare for the next season at the time of year when it’s nearly impossible to play in many other countries in Europe due to the weather. Thus, the Gecko has come up with a new calendar with a minimum of 25 tournaments. It will start on the 7th and 8th of November on a course which is yet to be determined and will finish up at the Finca Cortesín, one of the best courses in Spain, which has been the headquarters of the Volvo World Match Play of the European Tour for two editions.

The tournaments will be made up of two rounds and two will be held per week. The majority of the courses have already been confirmed and the bar has been set high once again: the aforementioned Finca Cortesín, La Cañada, Alcaidesa, San Roque, Mijas…The Gecko calendar is available here in detail. The tournaments all offer 10,000 euros in prize money, always based on the number of participants, and the gran finale at Finca Cortesín boasts up to 50,000 euros, a record-breaking amount for the Gecko.

There are less than six months left before the big day, the beginning of winter golf in Europe, the tour where many of the hottest golfers at the moment in the European Tour and the Challenge started out.
