The Golf Club, by HB Studios, is a next generation golf simulation video game and the first golf title to allow gamers and golf enthusiasts the chance to design and play golf courses in the comfort of their own home. The Golf Club is the first Official Video Game of the Volvo World Match Play Championship.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, The Volvo World Match Play Championship is taking place in the UK for the first time since 2007. It will be held at the London Golf Club in Kent from 15th – 19th October.

Helping bring this historic event on the European Tour to a new demographic, The Golf Club video game will allow golf gamers to play in a Match Play style contest within the game on “World Match Play Championship” course, a simulation of the London Golf Club’s International Course.

Credited with making some of the most critically acclaimed sport franchises on EA Sport’s label, HB Studios has developed The Golf Club – a highly realistic game featuring stunning visual presentation and outstanding gameplay.  Particularly revolutionary is how the game allows players to fully customise their golfing experience by creating and playing the course of their dreams in seconds with the built-in Greg Norman course designer element . Courses can be shared and played immediately online with friends and other gamers across PlayStation 4, XBox One and PC.

Commenting on the partnership Alan Bunker, COO at HB Studios said, “We are thrilled to involve The Golf Club in such a prestigious event, and share the game with such a well-informed golfing audience.  The head-to-head format of the World Match Play instills the kind of energy that we hope players of The Golf Club can enjoy when competing amongst their friends or online.”

The event is sure to make for a great week of golf as defending champion, Graeme McDowell and reigning Race to Dubai champion, Henrik Stenson headline a field which includes victorious 2014 Ryder Cup teammates, Thomas Björn, Jamie Donaldson, Victor Dubuisson and Stephen Gallacher.

Ross Hallett, VP IMG Golf said, “We are very pleased to announce the involvement of such an exciting new product.  The Golf Club is a great example of how golf is exploring new concepts that promote a fun connection to the game. Our relationship will provide The Golf Game with a platform to connect with golfers within this established setting, and it will also showcase a small slice of what the future might hold for golf events as technology connects a wider audience to the sport.”

The Golf Club will be exhibiting the game within the tented village, allowing all spectators the chance to trial the game by playing against friends for the chance to win prizes.
