The captains of the international team, which acts as host, and the American team have made their choices this Wednesday for the first day of competition. Five pairs each to play five fourball duels in search of the first points in the 15th edition of the Presidents Cup, in Canada. A draw that has resulted in some very interesting matches between big stars of the PGA Tour.
Mike Weir and Jim Furyk decided that to open the tournament the chosen ones would be Jason Day and Ben An for the international team and Xander Schauffele together with Tony Finau for the American one. Next up will be Adam Scott and Min Woo Lee who will face Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala. And the third match, with the World Number One present, will be played by Sungjae Im and Tom Kim against Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley.
The first day of competition at the Royal Montreal Golf will be completed with the last two matches: the one played by Taylor Pendrith and Christian Bezuidenhout against Wyndham Clark and Keegan Bradley; and the one that will pit Hideki Matsuyama and Corey Conners against Patrick Cantlay and Sum Burns. Without a doubt, five high-level fourballs to check if Mike Weir‘s team makes good use of their home advantage, preventing what happened two years ago when the U.S. started winning 4-1.
