The Presidents Cup announced on Tuesday that Brandt Snedeker and Geoff Ogilvy have been named captains of the U.S. and international teams, respectively, for the 2026 event. The 16th edition of the Presidents Cup will be held at Course No. 3 of the Medinah Country Club, from 22 to 27 September 2026.

“It is a great honour that my peers have named me captain of the U.S. team for the 2026 Presidents Cup and I am looking forward to leading our guys at Medinah in what will undoubtedly be an incredible week of golf,” stated Snedeker. “Representing my country in a team competition has been one of the highlights of my career on the PGA Tour and I will draw on those experiences to ensure we are prepared and ready to compete against what I know will be a united and determined international team.”

Snedeker, aged 44, represented the U.S. team in the 2013 Presidents Cup at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, with a record of 2-3-0. The Tennessee-born player also played for the United States in the 2012 and 2016 Ryder Cup, where he amassed a record of 4-2-0. Snedeker, who was a captain’s assistant in the 2024 Presidents Cup, is set to be the vice-captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup.

“Brandt Snedeker is one of the most respected players in golf and has earned the admiration of his peers throughout his 21-year career, recently recognised with the 2024 Payne Stewart Award for his exceptional character and sportsmanship,” noted Jay Monahan, commissioner of the PGA Tour. “Brandt is a proven leader both on and off the golf course, from his years representing the United States in team competitions to establishing a family foundation benefiting children in his home state of Tennessee. I know he will be a formidable captain and asset for the U.S. team in 2026,” he concluded.

Snedeker has nine career victories on the PGA Tour, including the 2012 TOUR Championship, where he also won the FedExCup. The former Vanderbilt University player is one of 14 players in the history of the U.S. circuit to have achieved a round under 60 strokes, which he accomplished at the 2018 Wyndham Championship, where an opening round of 59 helped him secure his ninth title.

Ogilvy, aged 47, played on three consecutive international teams (2007, 2009, and 2011), where he amassed a record of 7-6-1. He was also a captain’s assistant in the last four editions of the event. The Australian has eight victories on the PGA Tour, including the 2006 US Open, in addition to winning two of Australia’s most prestigious titles: the 2008 PGA of Australia and the 2010 Australian Open.

“The Presidents Cup has been an important part of my career. It is an honour for me to now take on the role of captain of the international team for the 2026 Presidents Cup at Course No. 3 of the Medinah Country Club, a place that means a lot to me,” stated Ogilvy. “Since Ernie Els introduced the shield in 2019, the spirit of the International Team has intensified and grown as we have rallied around this symbol, which embodies our shared ambition and unites both players and fans. My intention is to maintain that momentum, just as the captains before me have done, to build strong support for our international players in the preparations and throughout the event,” he explained.

Ogilvy‘s golf course design company, OCM, oversaw the renovation of Course No. 3, a two-year project that has resulted in a much larger course, in keeping with the terrain’s topography. The course, which now features larger greens, bigger bunkers, and wider fairways, along with a new layout, reopened in the summer of 2024.

Geoff Ogilvy is the perfect captain to lead the international team in Chicago in 2026, thanks to his extensive experience in the Presidents Cup and his deep knowledge of Medinah,” stated Monahan. “Geoff will build on the upward trend of the international team, which has enjoyed passionate support from players and fans over the years. With his pedigree as a major tournament champion and his experience in the team room, Geoff was ready to take on this role in the 16th edition of the event,” he concluded.
