New records that confirm the resounding success of the historic Ryder Cup in Rome

The Ryder Cup 2023, contested a couple of weeks ago in Italy, set new records in all areas confirming its resounding success. The European team won by 16½ to 11½ against the American team. A historic event that attracted unprecedented levels of participation both on social media and in the on-site following of the tournament as well as through international television broadcasts.

A total of 271,191 people from 100 different countries attended live the 44th edition of the Ryder at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, and millions more followed the competition on TV and various digital platforms.

There were 2,653 posts on the official social channels of the Ryder Cup Europe, the Ryder Cup USA and the joint Ryder Cup during the week of the event, generating over 600 million impressions and page views. In addition, initial figures show that visits to the official social media channels of the Ryder Cup amounted to 197.6 million, with a total of 26.7 million interactions, contributing to the channels gaining 500,000 new followers.

On the platforms of the Ryder Cup Europe alone, impressions rose to 347,106,426, a remarkable increase of 117% compared to the Ryder Cup of 2018 in Paris, which totalled 160 million. The images of the European team bus on Sunday night particularly resonated among fans, with 14,054,985 views across all channels in the first 48 hours, a total of 19,188,189 impressions and an engagement that rose to 1,482,709.

Initial figures also show notable increases in all global broadcasts, with an average audience growth on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom of 38% compared to the Ryder Cup of 2021 at Whistling Straits and 25% more than in the 2018 edition at Le Golf National, making it the most watched edition of the Ryder Cup in the United Kingdom. Spectacular figures for a unique event in the world that continues to break all records.
