The most anticipated news for all golf lovers in our country, exclusively revealed by Ten-Golf, is now official: the Ryder Cup will return to our country in 2031. The tournament organisers have just announced that Camiral Golf & Wellness, formerly known as PGA de Catalunya, will be the venue for the prestigious event that every two years pits the best players from Europe against United States in a team competition.
It will be the second time the Ryder Cup is held in Spain, following the historic and unforgettable 1997 edition at Valderrama. This return is accompanied by an ambitious plan with the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship taking place over six editions, from next year, 2026, until 2031, the year set for the return of the eagerly awaited duel between Europeans and Americans.

Camiral Golf & Wellness is no stranger to hosting top-level tournaments. Let’s remember that at its facilities, specifically at the Stadium Course, the Open de España has been held, as well as the Catalunya Championship in 2022, which was won by Adri Arnaus. There is acquired experience and great enthusiasm from Dennis O’Brien, the owner of the complex and main driving force behind the idea of hosting the Ryder Cup.
In the statement released by the Ryder Cup organisation this Tuesday, it is noted:
“Spanish passion has been at the heart of the Ryder Cup for nearly 50 years. Since the greats Seve Ballesteros and Antonio Garrido donned European colours in 1979, the country has produced some of the continent’s finest players and ambassadors.
Nine Spaniards have followed in their pioneering footsteps, including two-time Grand Slam champions José María Olazábal and Jon Rahm, and also Masters winner and all-time Ryder Cup top scorer, Sergio García, each bringing their talent and passion to Europe’s sacred locker room.
It was Ballesteros who led Europe to victory in 1997, when the biennial competition was held for the first time outside the British Isles or United States, and now it will return to Spain.
In 2031, Camiral will become the second Spanish venue for the Ryder Cup, bringing the unparalleled rivalry between Europe and United States to the Costa Brava and the Barcelona region.
It is the latest of the world’s major sporting events to come to the region, following the Olympic Games and the America’s Cup, while FC Barcelona and other football clubs light up LaLiga and entertain fans worldwide every year.
However, golf will take centre stage in 2031, when a 104-year-old rivalry is reignited in a country that continues to produce some of the sport’s biggest stars.
The spirit of Seve will be present as always, just as it was when his silhouette adorned the bags and arms of players in 2012, when his great friend and Ryder Cup teammate, Olazábal, starred in the Miracle of Medinah. His legacy is eternal.
