Michelle Wie’s win is good for us

This week we’re in Arkansas, as you may see. A new week, straight after a major tournament. Just returned from dinner and wanted to share with you my thoughts on what is probably the most unique U.S. Open in history.

Michelle Wie won and I’m glad. Congratulations. What I like most is that we have a great player on the tour, now winning majors. I love how she hits half-shots and the control she has to go with that power. That’s what´s made her go so far. Moreover, she didn´t three-putt during the four days at Pinehurst, an amazing fact. I am very happy for her because she is a nice girl and I think it is good for golf, for us, as she will bring more sponsors and profile to our tour.

My U.S. Open. I would have liked to have finished better. The second day I was fine and I think I finished level par. In any case, to be +5 after two days was fine. On Saturday I did not start in the best way, but I kept scoring okay until that double bogey on the 12th hole. I was 80 meters from the green and ended up with two very silly putts.

In a tournament like this you learn quickly, that you have to be very patient. Patience is the key. I am not going to focus on my swing and technique because I’m doing things right and its just a matter of time. The less I think about it the better.

Pinehurst deserves a separate mention. Of all the U.S. Open´s I’ve played this is the course that I have liked the most. The design is amazing. The layout requires precision off the tee and on approach shots; otherwise your recovery shots will be very complicated.

The experience of playing on the same course as the U.S. Men’s Open has been great. The USGA has done a great job and I think they should do this more often. It would be fun.
