8 September 2025, Bernardus Golf (Netherlands).
The countdown has already begun. This Monday, the traditional “Year to Go” event was held in the Netherlands, officially marking one year until the Solheim Cup 2026, which will take place from 7 to 13 September at Bernardus Golf.
European captain Anna Nordqvist and her vice-captain Caroline Hedwall shared the day with US captain Angela Stanford and her assistant Paula Creamer in a highly symbolic event where golf was mixed with cycling, the national sport of the Netherlands. The four protagonists took to their bikes to follow the same route that thousands of fans will take in 2026 on their way to the golf course.
The event also served to demonstrate the Solheim Cup’s commitment to sustainability. The 2026 edition aims to become a global benchmark in environmental respect, with measures such as eliminating general parking at the venue, promoting low-emission mobility, integrating cycling routes, using renewable energy, reducing waste, and actively restoring nature.
The Netherlands is one of the leading countries in this field: of the 314 GEO-certified courses worldwide, 104 are located in Dutch territory, with Bernardus Golf recognized as one of the most sustainable clubs in Europe.
Nordqvist expressed her enthusiasm during the event: “I am delighted to be here to celebrate one year to go until the Solheim Cup. With this warm welcome, we truly feel the great interest and support for the tournament. Bernardus is a spectacular venue, and I am already starting to imagine what will undoubtedly be the most special week of my life next September.”
For her part, Stanford noted after playing the course: “Bernardus will be a fantastic venue for the Solheim Cup 2026. The design and condition of the course are outstanding. The bike ride was great fun, and I am looking forward to returning in a year with our team to put on a great show for the Dutch public.”
Coinciding with the “Year to Go” celebration, the sale of general tickets has been launched, ranging from basic access to the venue to hospitality options such as the “Tap Inn at the 15th Green”, one of the most lively areas of the tournament.
