Matt Fitzpatrick produced one of the luckiest shots of the year on Friday in the second round of the RBC Heritage. His iron from the tee of the par-3 14th at Harbour Town went well left, into a sandy, tree-lined area. It bounced off a sort of lip of a buggy path and came back towards the green, but rolling at full speed towards the water hazard…
However, at the last moment, a course sprinkler stopped the ball, avoiding a penalty. The Englishman was able to play from there, off the green, and holed out for an incredible birdie. He went from a possible bogey or double bogey to gaining a shot on the course, which ultimately helped him retain sole possession of second place.
The break of the year? 😱
