David Borda (-11) has finally been the best Spanish player in the Challenge of Cádiz, with a last card of 67 strokes on the Mar y Pinos course of the Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri, one of the best records of the day. The Navarrese has reached the fifth position, the second best result of his career in the Challenge Tour, after that fourth place he achieved three years ago in the Irish Challenge.
Beyond this excellent classification, this result allows him to play next week in the Czech Republic, having finished within the top ten, a juicy possibility that Borda is going to make worth. It should be thought that this player has a very weak category in the circuit this year and has played in Cadiz with an invitation, but only with the points he has added this week he has placed himself in the 75th position of the Road to Mallorca, so he cannot waste any cartridge that is presented to him, because in principle there will not be many options to play tournaments.
Ángel Ayora (-10), for his part, has completed a more than notable week with a ninth final position after signing a Sunday card of 70 strokes and although again, just like on Friday, he was weighed down by a bad end of the round, with bogeys on holes 17 and 18 when he was in third position.
The young Andalusian, however, continues to add up and earn all the credit. For now, like Borda, he has secured a place for the tournament in the Czech Republic next week without spending an invitation, which is no small feat: he has already used six invitations in what we have of the season (the two tournaments in Spain do not count), so officially he would only have one more left. To change this situation and receive unlimited invitations, he would have to surpass the amount of points achieved by the golfer who finished in the 76th position of the Road to Mallorca last year, which are exactly 255.75, and right now Ayora already adds up 200, so in the Czech Republic he can still reach this goal. Meanwhile, just in case, he has won a few positions in the Road to Mallorca, where he already appears in the 35th position.
