Well, there is no choice but to stick to what one thought before even starting the Masters: it seems really difficult for anyone to beat Scottie Scheffler. Yesterday he added excitement in holes 10 and 11, but I disconnected for a little while from the Masters and when I started watching it again he was leading again.
And I thought that you shouldn’t move your feet much from the ground during the golf swing… That’s how I learned it as a child and you see what Scheffler does. It’s amazing how he can repeat so many good shots. He hardly ever fails.
For a golf swing, Aberg’s is the one. This player seems like he’s never going to fail. However, I don’t feel as confident when I see him with the putter in his hands, I don’t know why. It’s a feeling of mine, because the truth is that he’s not a bad putter. It’s hard to try to explain what Aberg is doing in his first Major. Tell me about it, I can’t make a cut in these tournaments…
Morikawa seems to be Scheffler’s biggest threat, but I would say that at least he’s going to need a 70 to go out and play a tie-break. That’s at least. Homa is only one stroke behind Morikawa and two behind Scheffler, but I see him more limited, with fewer options than his ranking suggests.
As for Jon, he can still make up with a good final round, although, truthfully, I think a player like him finds little difference between finishing fifteenth or twenty-eighth.
The Augusta National is impressive. I loved how it was on the third day, with those firm and fast greens, and I think we should expect something similar for today, or even something harder. The thing is that there will also be some slightly easier flags and on that side maybe we can see a scorecard of 65 or 66 strokes. When I see those fast greens… In the tournaments I’ve played this year on the PGA Tour I’ve found something more or less similar in the Valspar and I have to admit that those fast greens, they inspire a lot of respect in me. There are times when you don’t know how to get it right and I always have the fear of hitting the ball very firm and leaving a longer putt back.
I don’t know if the winner will reach a double-digit under par result, but I think not. In any case, I think it’s going to be a spectacular Sunday of a Masters that I’m loving.
