Phil Mickelson and Caleb Surratt have signed two new caddies who will debut next week at the LIV Golf in Miami. The veteran Lefty does so in response to the retirement of his brother Tim, while the young Surratt, a member of Jon Rahm‘s team, has had the advice of Adam Hayes, Rahm’s caddie for almost his entire professional life. The two new members of the LIV Golf family are two veterans already seasoned in many bags.
They will debut next week at the LIV Golf in Miami
As reported by Golfweek, the veteran caddie Jon Yarbrough will be on Mickelson’s bag from next week, as well as at the Masters in Augusta. Yarbrough has been a caddie for over 20 years, the last ten serving Scott Stallings. In addition, he has worked with Gary Woodland, Bill Haas, Smylie Kaufman, as well as Kelly Robbins, Morgan Pressel or Suzann Pettersen on the LPGA Tour.
Stallings, 39, made it to the Tour Championship in 2022, but hasn’t won since the Farmers Insurance Open in 2014 and has missed the cut in five of his eight tournaments this season. According to a source, Stallings and Yarbrough are very good friends, but the amount of guaranteed money offered “was incredible”. Yarbrough declined to comment.
Brian Dilley, friend of Adam Hayes
On the other hand, Surratt has signed Brian Dilley, another PGA Tour veteran, who had been on Akshay Bhatia‘s bag in recent times. Dilley is a close friend of Adam Hayes, Rahm’s caddie, and it is very likely that he contributed to putting Surratt and Dilley in contact.
“I’m still learning and growing and I think Brian Dilley is going to be able to help me become a better player every day,” Surratt wrote in a text message about Dilley, who has also worked with Aaron Wise, Billy Horschel and Gerina Piller, among others. “He has been a caddie at an extremely high level for longer than I have lived and will undoubtedly be a great pair of eyes for my game. Everyone on my team speaks very highly of him and I am very excited”.
